Deal or No Deal (South Africa)

  • Deal or No Deal – South Africa, is a thrilling, once-in-a-lifetime game of chance where contestants select one of twenty sealed boxes. Each box contains a cash amount, ranging from R1 to R250 000. As the game unfolds, and as the cash values of the boxes are revealed, the contestant is offered an amount in exchange for their box by the show’s Banker. Round after round, Katlego Maboe, the show host, will ask the contestant to decide whether to take the Banker’s deal or not; thus, creating a rapture of enthusiastic encouragement and nail-biting nerves for both contestants and viewers.

In my role as editor and post-production manager, I developed a sustainable and efficient workflow for post-production using EditShare Workflow and Multicam editing for a 23-minute show using Premiere Pro as the editing software. This included scheduling a daily delivery of the completed episode for broadcast on SABC 2

Deal or No Deal Celebrity (SA)

As the name suggests, Deal Or No Deal Celebrity is a game show that sees only Mzansi’s A-listers in the hot seat. However, they don’t play for themselves but for charities close to their hearts.

The glamorous Deal or No Deal Celebrity is also presented by Katlego Maboe and features a bevy of beautiful “Money Models. Twenty drop-dead gorgeous Money Models hold shiny, sealed silver briefcases with undisclosed sums of money. After picking one of these briefcases – not knowing what’s inside – a celebrity then opens the other briefcases one-by-one. All the while, the mysterious banker tempts the celebrity with offers to buy their briefcase. They can accept the banker’s deal at any time or keep their briefcase until the end, running the risk that it contains a much smaller amount of money.

The winnings don’t land in the celebrity’s personal bank account. Instead, each celebrity donates their winnings to a charity of their choice.

In my role as post-production manager, I developed a sustainable and efficient workflow for post-production using EditShare Workflow and Multicam editing for a 45 -minute show using Premiere Pro as the editing software. This included scheduling a daily delivery of the completed episode for broadcast on SABC 1

Wheel of Fortune (South Africa)

The South African version of Wheel of Fortune is filmed at Atlantic Studios in Cape Town and is produced by Homebrew Films and Primedia Studios for SABC3 according to the format licensed internationally by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

Contestants compete against each other by solving word puzzles in order to win cash prizes, which are determined by a spinning wheel.
